Profile of Mr. Shameem Ahsan
Shameem Ahsan is an ICT entrepreneur, venture capital investor & policy maker widely recognized for his work to improve the reputation of the Bangladeshi ICT industry in the global space. He has played a pivotal role in the implementation of all the major policy changes related to the ICT sector in last one decade. He has been awarded with the CIP (Commercially Important Person) status for his contribution to the country’s ICT sector by the Ministry of Commerce for last two terms.
A graduate from University of Central Oklahoma, USA, he is a General Partner of Pegasus Tech Ventures (former Fenox Venture Capital), head quartered in Silicon Valley that manages a US$ 1.6 billion fund. His company eGeneration is among the market leaders for disruptive technologies like IoT, Data Analytics and blockchain. He is also the Chairman of Gemsclip.com, one of the fastest growing B2B ecommerce in Bangladesh. He is the co-founder and Executive Chairman of BAGDOOM.com, the largest lifestyle eCommerce venture in the country. He had been the President of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), the largest national trade body for IT and ITES for consecutive two terms. He is a former Director of Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBBCI) for last two terms which is the apex trade body in Bangladesh and Chairman of Venture Capital & Private Equity Association of Bangladesh (VCPEAB). He is a former Director of Agrani Bank and founder and Immediate Past President of TiE Dhaka.
He has been lauded many times for his significant contributions to the growth and development of the ICT industry–he has received the “Best Young Entrepreneur of Bangladesh” award from the Prime Minister of Bangladesh at Dhaka Chamber of Commerce Business Award; he was voted “Top Outstanding Young Person in Bangladesh” by JCI and awarded for his contribution to the eCommerce sector by Computer Jagat. He was also recognized as “Outstanding Tech Personality of 2015”. He has been a member of the Prime Ministers Digital Bangladesh Task Force from the private sector, which is the highest policy making body to monitor and implement the vision of building Digital Bangladesh.
